What's New at CSVR? CSVR opens in Montgomery February 25th! CSVR is opening an office in Montgomery and will be seeing people by appointment on February 25th .We are lucky to have an experience Office Manager, Marcia Ortega, who will be our Montgomery manager and contact. We have obtained facilities in the rear of the American Cancer Society building, and have local support from Ophthalmologists and Optometrists. The office is at 3054 McGehee Road. April 14th Eye Seminar & Screening " Eye Disease in the 21st Century: Prevention, Cure, Care" will be an informative program with not only educational presentations but also free screening by the Lions Club of Fairhope and presentation of adaptive devices by Community Services for Vision Rehabilitation. To be held at the Nix Center in Fairhope April 14th, the free program will begin at 10:00 AM with a talk by Mark Douglas MD, Retina Specialist of Premier Medical. He will discuss the common eye problems of our time, such as macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and glaucoma. He will explain prevention and treatment. How to avoid the effects of decreased vision and remain functional, independent and happy despite vision loss will be covered by Joe Fontenot MD, Medical Director of Community Services for Vision Rehabilitation (CSVR). Carol Evans, OTR/L, also of CSVR, will demonstrate practical adaptations, techniques and devices to enable full function despite vision loss. Following the educational seminar there will be free vision testing by the Fairhope Lions Club, from 11:00 AM to 2:00PM. There will be an exhibit of magnifiers, glasses and adaptive devices by CSVR. Who should attend? Anyone of any age with an eye condition which has, or may eventually cause, vision problems, or who has a family member with such problems.
