Joe Fontenot MD, CLVT
Dr. Joe Fontenot is a medical doctor and Certified Low Vision Therapist. He personally evaluates all new patients. This detailed personal evaluation helps guide the training, resources and devices recommended for each person to achieve maximum function, independence and quality of life. Dr. Fontenot himself has vision loss. He understands the problems and obstacles that his patients face.
Carol Evans, OTR/L
Carol Evans is our Occupational Therapist. Acting on the recommendations of Dr. Fontenot, she helps each patient achieve the highest possible level of function. With more than 20 years of experience, Carol is experienced in all aspects of training and education of the blind and visually impaired. She is a certified Braille and Orientation and Mobility Instructor. She makes home visits as well as seeing patients at our office.
Quincey Ramsey
Quincey Ramsey is our office manager, administrator and adaptive equipment specialist. In addition to conducting classes in basic computer technique, Quincey handles ordering, delivery, set up and instruction in the use of adaptive devices. A ten year Navy veteran and former technician for a major electronics chain, Quincey has extensive experience in office management and computer technology.
Betty Wainwright, LPN
Betty Wainwright, a Licensed Practical Nurse, is our receptionist and office facilitator. She is the initial contact for our office. With considerable experience in many aspects of health care, she is able to provide information and help to the visually impaired.
Karla Mitchell
Karla Mitchell is our medical insurance and reimbursement specialist. .For those patients with insurance coverage, she helps guide them through the often complicated paperwork involved.
Peggy Sams, RN
Peggy Sams volunteers at our Fairhope office. A retired RN who has worked in many areas of health care; she is a welcome and valuable member of our staff.
Patricia Robinson RN
Patricia is our transcriptionist. She helps with communication to referring doctors and referring medical facilities, and participates in support group meetings and computer workshops.
